O’wango: Tell us about yourself.
Tony Mallett: I'm a published songwriter, teacher, life coach, speaker and co-author of an inspirational book entitled "You have this book in your hands for a reason."
O’wango: When did you start being passionate about music?
Tony Mallett: I began to sense my passion for songwriting at an early age. I would sing melodies playing on my rocking horse. My parents would leave me alone for hours just creating tunes and melodies. I experimented with the saxophone and harmonica before deciding that the guitar was the most versatile means of expressing my musical ideas. I began writing seriously on a little 4 track tape recorder when I was 24. I moved to the country and rented a small studio barn where I crafted my way forward in creative isolation. I now use a home 32 track recorder and work in partnership with other writers and vocalists.
O’wango: Where does your inspiration come from?
Tony Mallett: Time alone with the guitar is a kind of channelling experience. Emotion and a sense of contentment drive the writing process. I was greatly influenced by the music and passion of Mike Oldfield, U.2., Simple Minds, Rush, Suzanne Vega, and the whole Ibiza scene or Trance anthems..........(A real mixed bag of influences!!!)

Tony Mallett: Combining emotive music with literature is a great idea. I often study books while listening to music. Music accompanies our experiences through life and will always stand as a universal language.
